The product they use
JDS works with Natural Surface, an Australian microcement maker. The M Series is premixed, so each batch is consistent, and it is made up of:
- M4, M5 and M6 premixed powders
- Apex Resin
- T01 and T02 protective top coats

How they apply it
- Total thickness: 1 to 1.5mm.
- Layers: four, with no primer. A base coat, a face coat and two top coats.
- Over existing surfaces: sound, level, well-bonded tiles stay where they are. No hacking and no raised floor in normal cases.
- Survey first: they look at the existing surface before quoting and say so if it is not sound enough to lay over.
- Bathrooms: their position is that water resistance comes from the sealed system over a sound waterproofing membrane, and shower floors are only done where a proper membrane is underneath.
Typical timings
With the M Series, JDS says a bathroom usually takes 3 to 4 working days and a whole unit usually takes 4 to 6 working days. Timing for your space is confirmed in the quote.
Finishes
Two finishes are shown on the site:
- Raw and Cloudy: their signature, with soft tonal cloud and open trowel marks.
- Oxidestuc: denser and more mineral, with a deeper tonal shift, closer to burnished stone.
